Public Health Guides work in assigned areas to help families develop an understanding of the need for good health practices and preventive health care by improving their health knowledge, attitudes and actions. Assistance is provided in obtaining needed services.

Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children under 5

Rockland County Health Dept. This free, federally funded, health and nutrition program for women who are pregnant or nursing, and children under the age of five. Participants qualify on the basis of financial, medical, or nutritional need.

Coordinates a full range of social and community services to pregnant adolescents and parents under 18 who are receiving or have applied for public assistance. Also assists participants to remain in school and/or attend vocational training programs.

This federally funded, income eligible program provides regular medical and dental screening of children, from birth to 21 years, to assure fewer future health problems.

SCHOOL LUNCH PROGRAM

This nutrition program for school-age children provides free or reduced price school meals. Federally funded income eligibility.
