YOUTH YELLOW PAGES

At the suggestion of several youth-serving agencies and persons, the "Youth Yellow Pages" has on the inside of the back cover a list of "responsibilities" for the young reader to consider along with the "rights" that are discussed.

It seems appropriate that we repeat them here for users of this "Handbook" because they apply to all persons, not only youth. The source is the NYS Division for Youth.

• Take care of your body, mind and spirit.
• Perform anything to the best of your ability.
• Develop character and the courage to live by your principles.
• Improve yourself with education (school and non-school).
• Respect the rights and feelings of others.
• Be honest with yourself and others at all times.
• Set a good example so others may enjoy and profit from your company.
• Live in harmony with others.
• Preserve and support a democratic way of life.
• Keep in mind that we were not put on this earth to only amuse ourselves or simply enjoy the fruits of others.
• Be of service to others and try to leave the world a better place.
• We ended the youth booklet with a suggestion that the reader think about what these responsibilities mean "because they involve a lot of different, interesting choices that we all have to make."
• The same is true for all of us.

1990 Census are figures used by NYS Division for Youth in computing local eligibility. The village of Airmont in the Town of Ramapo was formed after the 1990 Census and should be available in the 2000 Census figures when completed.
