Our Mission
Creating Beauty in Music to Enliven the Spirit!

An ensemble of approximately 30 voices, the Rockland Camerata strives to
provide audiences with a luscious variety of both sacred and secular music, from
the 16th century through to present day compositions. It is made up of dedicated men and women who enjoy the opportunity to become acquainted with fine music and perform with professional instrumentalists and vocal soloists, We have a distinguished history of bringing music of high caliber to the lower Hudson Valley, and we have worked with many other groups, such as the Rockland Symphony Orchestra, the County Choral Society, the Rockland Opera Society, in our efforts to share and promote the enjoyment of classical music.

Dear Friends of the Rockland Camerata:

Dear Friends of the Rockland Camerata:
Welcome to The Rockland Camerata’s thirty-fourth season, celebrating a long tradition of concerts featuring a wide range of musical styles and periods.

Last June marked our first concert under new Music Director and Conductor, Matthew Rupcich, and the audience gave us a standing ovation.  I promise that this season  will be no less exciting.

In January we will present Around the World in 80 Minutes, a collage of works by Bach, Durufle, Vivaldi, Persichetti, Copland, Victoria and Aguiar.  Truly international in scope and spanning three centuries.

Our Spring concert will feature The Holocaust Cantata, a powerful and moving work based on musical and written material composed in the concentration camps of World War II.  This piece is an affirmation of  the redeeming power of art and the triumph and resiliency of the human spirit in the
face of unspeakable evil.

Our outreach programs are extremely important to us, so we will again be performing at the Valley Cottage Library in December, with a concert that will include holiday music of the season.

These are difficult times for the arts, as well as for individuals who may be struggling in their own lives, but we remain committed to bringing the finest choral music to our audience.

The arts are a vital part of the community and our lives, and I urge you to support the Camerata as generously as you can, both financially and by your attendance at our wonderful prformances so that we may continue to bring our unique musical programs to the residents of Rockland County.  Please help support the arts for tomorrow’s audiences as well as those of today.
