MISSION

The Jamaican Civic and Cultural Association of Rockland (JAMCCAR), Inc. is a non-profit community organization whose primary mission is to foster good relations and close association with Jamaicans and friends in Rockland County and its environs, with the purpose of promoting the civic, economic, and cultural aspects of the Jamaican, Caribbean, and Pan-African cultures. Annual membership dues are: Individual Adult: $30; Family $50; Young Adults (16-25) $10. For civic and cultural activities, networking, fun, and friendship, for the entire family, join us at our monthly meetings on the second Friday of each month, at 7:30 p.m. at the Louis Kurtz Civic Center, 9 North Main Street, Spring Valley, New York.

BENEFITS

The organization provides:

• Opportunities for graduating high school seniors to apply for scholarship awards.
• Networking/Entrepreneurial opportunities through business expos and other activities.
• Mentoring programs for youth.
• Recreational activities including cricket, folk singing, steel band, drumming, youth cultural and performance group.
• Civic and cultural activities for children and adults, including an Annual Cultural Showcase.
• Special interest community forums on education, health, immigration, and other topics.
• Assistance and education with the citizenship process.
• Discounted prices to many cultural events.
• Association and fellowship with Jamaicans and others.
• Monthly mailings, quarterly newsletter, and other correspondence to members.
