Scholarship
One of JAMCCAR'S objectives is to foster educational development of young people. To help fulfill this objective JAMCCAR offers scholarships to eligible college bound students who will pursue full time studies. Applicants must satisfy the eligibility and requirements listed.
- Graduating High School Seniors who are members or associate members of JAMCCAR for at least one year and have been actively participating in the organization, or
- Children of Jamaican parentage graduating from a Rockland County High School and who have been actively involved in JAMCCAR or other community organizations. Proof of involvement will be required.
- Have at least an overall "B" average. Acceptance to a college.
- Recommendation from a teacher of the High School or a JAMCCAR member.
- An essay of at least 500 words stating career goals and describing involvement in Jamaican or other community organizations.
- Application must be postmarked by April 15, 2005.
- Personal interview.
- A written statement that funds will be used only for educational purposes.
Please note the following points carefully:
- Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
- You will be notified upon receipt of application.
- The decision of the Committee is final.
- Awardees will be notified no later than May 31, 2005.
* Requirements will be strictly enforced. Eligibilty and meeting the requirements should not be construed as a guarantee that a scholarship will be offered.
