Founded in 1924, the Morning Music Club is the oldest continuously functioning music organization in Rockland County. It attracts members from across the county and includes music lovers and patrons as well as musicians.
The Club is well known for its Concert Series, its Outreach Program and its Scholarship Prizes awarded to Rockland County High School seniors.
The Club received a 1994 County Executive's Arts Award and has been the beneficiary of annual grants from the County of Rockland and the Arts Fund of Rockland.
The Concert year from October to June features professional musicians. Generally held on Tuesday mornings, the free concerts cover a wide range of musical offerings. Non-members in attendance are invited to make a donation to the Club's Scholarship Fund. This year, all performances will be held at the Nauraushaun Presbyterian Church in Pearl River at times noted below.
In keeping with its purpose of "serving as a cultural, charitable and educational organization," the Morning Music Club sponsors special programs for older adults, youth, children and the physically and mentally challenged citizens of Rockland. Programs this year were presented at Nyack Head Start, Dowling Gardens in Sparkill, the Young Adult Center in Pomona, and the Community Support Center for older adults in Garnerville.
Seniors from all Rockland County high schools are invited to apply for competitive scholarships toward the furtherance of their musical education.
