Carolyn Runowicz, M.D., herself a cancer survivor, is Director of the
Division of Gynecologic Oncology and Associate Professor at Albert Einstein
College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center in New York City. Her
presentation focused on understanding breast cancer biology and the reality
of women's lives before and after breast cancer. Her recent book, To Be
Alive, was written specifically for women cancer survivors to help them heal
themselves and provide reassurance and support.
Stephen B. Edge, M.D is Chief of the Breast Department of the Division of
Surgical Oncology at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, N.Y., and is
Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Buffalo. He was the 1990
winner of the American Federation of Clinical Research award for excellence
in research, recognizing his groundbreaking work in breast cancer risk
prediction and other areas. His vast experience and credentials in breast
cancer research made this an exciting presentation of the latest news on
risk factors, breast cancer screening, and genetics.
