James V. Giordano
Biographical Data
James V. Giordano has been appointed Interim Executive Vice
President for Good Samaritan Hospital.
In this role, he reports directly to Dominick Stanzione, CEO for Bon
Secours Charity Health System. Jim,
previously served as Executive Vice President for St. Anthony Community
Hospital, will continue to work closely with the System’s Executive Council
leadership team to coordinate the functions of Good Samaritan Hospital.
Jim brings more than 17 years of health care experience to
this position. Experience that spans
operations management, information technology, planning, regional data center
development, physician integration strategy, and operations and technical
assessments for MSO’s.
Since his appointment as St. Anthony Community Hospital’s
Chief Executive in 1997, Jim has worked together with the Hospital’s leadership
team to assure St. Anthony’s future in today’s competitive healthcare
environment. Among his many
accomplishments are: the successful 18 month turnaround of a financially
troubled organization reversing a 10 year trend of 2.5 million annual losses;
the development of physician leadership and creation of broad based medical
staff support for strategic and operational recovery of the Hospital; leading
the 1998 JCAHO Survey Team resulting in Accreditation with Commendation;
championing a capital campaign in support of the complete renovation of the
Hospital’s OB/GYN unit to an LDRP center, His enthusiasm and programs have
improved employee morale and enhanced staff relationships through open forum
staff meetings and a staff recognition program called TEAM SACH. Jim also
established a Human Resource Advisory management task force forum.
Jim came to Bon Secours from Hamilton – Healthcare
Management Counselors, the health care consulting division of the New York City
based Kurt Salmon Associates. Prior to
joining Kurt Salmon in 1995, he was the administrator for the Department of
Medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University in
Bronx, New York, where he served as administrative advocate for the interests
of the physicians and managed a $31 million budget. Prior to that, he was the assistant administrator for the
Department of Nursing, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York,
where he managed a $42 million operating budget and a $1.7 million capital
budget in a department with 1150 employees.
Jim received a Bachelor of Science from Ithaca College and
holds an MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Rutherford, New
Jersey. He lives with his wife Liz
and their two children in Mendham, New Jersey.
