Charles M. Perrella, age 55, of Valley Cottage,
NY died suddenly on Saturday May 7, 2005 in Ohio. He was participating
in a bike tour with his son, Andrew, and a friend.
Charles was born on April 12, 1950 in New York, the son of Charles Perrella and Philomena (Carleo) Perrella. He attended Nyack schools, graduating from Nyack High School in 1968. In 1972, he graduated from Cornell University with a degree in engineering and married his high school sweetheart, Irene A. Kunar. They were married for 33 years and have two children, a son, Andrew Perrella, Ph.D. of Rockville, MD and Ithaca, NY and his wife Fern Lan Siew and a daughter Kathryn Perrella of New York.
He is survived by his mother and two sisters, Marie Somos of New City, and Phyllis Townsend of Milford, NJ.
Charlie was the President of Trexis, Inc. a computer consulting firm in Valley Cottage and Philadelphia. He was also a graduate gemologist and worked in the family jewelry business for many years. In his free time, he enjoyed bicycling and sailing and was a member of the Nyack Boat Club. He was a member of St. Anna's Catholic Church from his youth and eight years ago became a member of St. Anna's Choir. He often spoke of the great
joy that he got from participating in the choir. During the 1980's Charlie was active in scouting, first as the Cubmaster of Pack 27 and later as a commissioner for the Shatemuc District. He coached CYO basketball and soccer with both his son and daughter. An early enthusiast of lacrosse, Charlie was the captain of Nyack High School's first lacrosse team in 1968. He played briefly for Cornell University but enjoyed even more coaching,
watching and encouraging his children in the game.
