Kids' Rep, inc. was founded in 1989 by John Lampkin as a non-profit theater organization devoted to helping young writers develop and produce original works for the stage. Since then, we have inspired hundreds of children to write plays, and we have staged readings of several dozen.

We have brought to full production seven plays and nine musicals written and performed by Rockland County children.
To insure high artistic standards for our scripts, we hold an annual contest each January 1 through March 31, soliciting scripts from all Rockland youth. While the contest is open, we offer free critiques and workshops with theater professionals. Once the winners are selected, we work further with the playwrights giving careful, sensitive and positive support during a five-month rewriting process that insures that the final script is indeed the best that the playwright can produce. In short, we afford young gifted writers the same respectful consideration that we would a colleague.

In October, the plays are presented under professional direction at historic Antrim Playhouse in Suffern. Following the Antrim run, we present shows to school assembly programs under PTA sponsorship to inspire the next season of writers, renewing the cycle.
