THE PRESTIGIOUS KAPLAN FUND GRANTS ROCKLAND BICENTENNIAL '98 $7,500 FOR PUBLLSHING OF A HISTORY OF THE EARLY YEARS OF ROCKLAND COUNTY


The Rockland Bicentennial Inc., has been awarded a $7,500 grant from the prestigious J.M. Kaplan Fund for the printing of Rockland County, New York in the 1790's.

Published and prepared by The Historical Society of Rockland County, Jaquetta M. Haley's delighfful book,  which acquaints Rocklanders with their county's history, is being printed by Rockland Bicentennial '98 with partial funding from the J.M. Kaplan grant.

The Kaplan Fund which was established in 1945, sponsors grants for fledgling projects and offers resourceful assitance to citizen efforts in New York State.  The Fund has strengthed or brought into being instititutions and efforts such as: Urban Center Books at the Municipal Art Society, the renovation of Gracie Mansion, the Sacred Rites and Property Fund of the New York Landmarks Conservancy and the New York Cares Annual Coat Drive.

Rockland County, New York in the 1790's  is available at The Historical Society of Rockland County, the Rockland Bicentennial Kiosk in the Nanuet Mall at local college bookstores and at all Bicentennial events for the price of $18.00.
